Students entering research often feel stymied when reading journal articles. In addition, when starting to learn a discipline, the challenging of putting emerging research into the context of classic papers can seem daunting.

To ease students' acclimation to the literature and to provide them with a common knowledge base and vocabulary, EERREC REU scholars will meet weekly with faculty and graduate student mentors in a journal club to read classic and recent papers from the primary literature in ecology and evolutionary biology.
